Can the Japanese guess how to read a kanji if they do not know it?

So, for example, if a Japanese is trying to read aloud and he comes across a kanji he has never seen before, is he able to make an educated guess about the pronunciation/meaning based on the composition of radicals, like you could by just reading the letters of a word in English?|||That person can guess the meaning, but not pronunciation. Sometimes meaning can be almost clear because of the context. However, not always.

Usually kanji that are uncommon have furigana above them|||They might know the meaning from the structure of the chinese character, but don't know the right pronunciation .But they might be able to read sentences correctly from the context even if they don't know the chinese character.|||Kanji = Chinese characters %26gt; From Chinese. So No. Unless the person has learned some Chinese first.|||Not at all on the pronunciation. Maybe *just a little* for the meaning but I doubt it.
