Some say they have fulfilled prophecies, but the prophecies are just as vague as Nostradamus' prophecies, so how do we guess which religious text is divinely inspired?
It seems to come down to a guess, isn't it just like gambling?

Many discredit it since man wrote it but many of the writers report being "in the spirit" when they wrote it - John was literally taken to heaven in spirit realm to see his visions of the future. The Holy Spirit is part of God and it is the force that authored the bible THROUGH the prophets and writers. To reject the bible, you reject the Holy Spirit. The dead see scrolls that were found by some fisherman in caves - they are a collection of about NINE HUNDRED DOCUMENTS that were found from 1947-1956. They have been dated by scientists as being thousands of years old and if you google pictures of them their age is evident. In studying their texts, scholars are astounded that they match today's texts to a degree of 99-100%. There are always some translations that slightly differ depending on what bible you use but the overall meaning is exactly the same - for example if I said "The books were taken by the prophets" one translation down the road might come to say "The prophets took the books". Different translation of the text but the SAME meaning. I have seen some people who have explored many religions. Many of them conclude that no single religion is truer than any other. Exploring the many possibilities helps anyone to be more objective about all possibilities.|||no, God will not punish you if you guess it wrong, there's a verse in the bible that says 'by the flocks, you would know the kind of pastor he is'. this means take a look at the congregation that is attending the church. if you see that the members are not taken care of, and the pastor always emphasize on the offerings but does not emphasize about christ teachings and the bible, then go find another church that does.|||Religious texts are all divinely inspired by definition. This isn't really an issue unless people start thinking it's the actual word of their deity or start trying to force others to live by it either through forced conversion or through legislation or other forms of indoctrination.
Oh, and there is no punishment for not reading and following the advice given in H谩vam谩l other than what normally happens when you don't follow common sense advice like "enjoy your mead but don't get so drunk you make a fool of yourself". Our deities are not sadistic or malicious, so why would they punish someone for not swearing an oath to them? They, like their modern day followers, mind their own damn business for the most part (outside of certain obvious necessities, of course).|||Well one is the fulfilled prophecies, and they should not be vague like Nostradamus but fully obvious and clear.
Second could be the mention of historical events which were unknown to the people of the time of revelation of the scripture but became known later due to archaeological advancement.
Third could be the mention of such scientific facts which were unknown at the time of revelation and became known only recently.
Fourth could be the complete absence of scientific absurdities of the age of the revelation.
Fifth could be the inability of humanity to complete the challenges set forth by the scripture to prove it's not divine..
Last but most certainly not the least would be the text that it contains contains wisdom, knowledge and talk which agrees with the human nature.
If a scripture satisfies all these characteristics it should be taken as the word of God. It's not about guessing, it's about taking the time out of your merry making and actually reading the scripture claiming to be the word of God. And you can put the book to the above tests and put yourself to the tests of the book and see where it leads you. Do you think you can do that?|||God wouldn't punish you because u guessed wrong, he would punish you becasue of the guessing. If the person truly cared they would make more of an effort, and not just 'guess'.
In answer to your first question I would say try this little test.
Read a holy book, and then try to produce something like it.And no im not saying make your own religeon. Let me use a little example...
In Islam, when Muhammad came down with the Quran, none of the people believed that it was the Word of God. However, Muhammad told them that the person who could make something similar to the words of Quran. No one could, becasue the words of the Quran was so beautiful. Therefore the people concluded that they could not despite having their best writers try to copy something like that.

The Bible proves itself by The Messiah, Shiloh and Jesus Christ who are different names for the same person AND
Jesus Christ proves He is the Messiah and Shiloh and that He will come back to Israel who rejected him because God Jesus keeps His word.

If you are A skeptic, I challenge you to study the historical facts about Jesus Christ -- His death, His resurrection, and the prophecies written hundreds of years before He came that show with pinpoint accuracy that Christ Jesus is THE Messiah!
Look at the odds of any one person fulfilling these prophecies.
A mathematician proved that the chance of any one person fulfilling even 8 of these Old Testament prophecies was :
One IN 10 to the 17th power OR 10.00000000000000000!
Those Odds would be like covering the earth with silver dollars placing them heads up and painting the back of one THEM GREEN!
And giving YOU all the silver dollars if you can pick up the silver dollar with the back painted GREEN in one try !
Oh I forgot to mention that Jesus Christ fulfilled 300 plus prophecies and about 436 details.
With that amount of evidence only a very dishonest OR foolish person rejects Him as the Messiah.
